Just me, so far. I am trying to get the word out. This site doesn't have all the fancy stuff to pimp out profiles or insert graphics in comments, but it seems pretty flexible. There are tons of discussion topics, for sure.

On the main page, there are tabs for monitoring who's online and what topics are being discussed. I'm going to try linking a news article: http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/09/sc_lawmaker_accuses_sanford_camp_of_planting_lt_go.php

@BobtheIronworker: That's hilarious! So are you interested in spending a little time fooling around with this site? I am spreading the word at SH on the down low -- through emails (for privacy) and I'm spelling this site's name with spaces inserted for security and privacy, if you know what I mean. Over the last 48 hours, Skinny, Okie, and China Doll have been "disappeared" from SH and nobody seems to understand why. These are some of the most rule-abiding members I've seen there. I feel like we're in a hostile environment since we like to talk politics and our views clash with the owners of SH. So I thought it would be nice to find a place where "management" is more neutral.

I just left a message for Lee Haywood, the site administrator. I explained our situation and asked if there is a terms of service page he would like us to read. Can you think of any other questions you'd like to ask him?

I did! That scared the crap out of me.

@Disko Pickle: I haven't found any terms of service. Let me know if you find them. I don't want to make myself unwelcome here right off the bat. Hey -- I don't see any ads here. I wonder how the administrator finances the running of this place?

A lot of these kinds of sites are started as a forum for the creator to share with their friends. Some of them catch on with the general public.

Hello new people! Welcome to DNr :) Obviously I'm incredibly rudely eading a discussion not aimed at me as I've barely even heard of sodahead, but I hope you'll forgive me! :P As far as I'm aware Lee currently funds this site straight from his own pocket, and T&C's are non-official as far as I'm aware, just be nice and respectful, don;t spam and I'm sure we'll all get on really well :) It'll be nice to have some new opinions on here, it's hard to promote a site like this... :)

Hello, newcomers. Sorry for not being here earlier, my PC was locked-up processing graphics. ☺ I also live in the UK, so it's getting late here. Discussionator was created to replace Soapboxxer.com when it was discontinued. It's meant to fix all the flaws that site had too. I haven't written any sort of policy and there's been no need for moderation so far, but basically any comments you post belong to the site and there's no advertising. I pay for the site myself, although it's only around £100 a year at present. There's no moderation (other than for tags) and no censorship, although obviously I will have to deal with any abuse or harassment issues if any should ever arise.

Oh, and you can switch off Alice's sneeze in the settings if you don't need it - it just announces new entries appearing as a result of the auto-refresh. (The favicon serves the same purpose, changing from blue to pink).

@Lee J Haywood: Thank you for your message, Lee. It's nice to meet you. There are a few of us from a social networking site who are interested in trying out other communities. It's very nice of you to allow folks to participate on your site, seeing as you are covering expenses from your own pocket! So thank you for the hospitality!

@Lee J Haywood: Oh, I love the "Alice" sneeze! It's charming. (Of course, later on, if it becomes less charming, it's nice to know how switch it off!)

Welcome noobs. Hope you take the time to use the 5-star rating. There's also the abuse link at the top left, for marking inappropriate topics. It hasn't been used for many months because we are such a nice bunch of folks.

@Austexgal: We've been aware of SodaHead since the Soapboxxer days - some of the old users from that site moved to SodaHead, instead of coming here. Obviously there would be no point running Discussionator if no-one used it - so the more people the better... up to a point! Even though Soapboxxer had about 100 active users, it was still appreciated as a quiet area of the Internet for discussing opinions, and Discussionator is no different. Oh, and the sneeze is my best friend - you can hear the song it comes from here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXRkA6YqRCA

@Thelevellers: You can listen to pretty much all of Alice Rock's music on their site, and watch other videos, plus they're doing gigs mostly around London this year. http://alice-rock.co.uk/

@Thelevellers: Oh, wow - that's good news. I was just pondering today how much of her music is actually good and how much is just me being biased. (-:

Well her style really hit the spot for where I'm at musically at the moment - I'm really into qirky different sounds, like The Victorian English Gentlemans Club and Blood Red Shoes (another girl/guy guitar/drums band - very different sound though...). It is hard when you know someone well to really know if you are being biased about their skills... lol!

@Thelevellers: Hmm, both have good sounds but I don't like male vocals (except metal). When Alice was in Nottingham I went to see almost all of her gigs, and was listening to her albums every day. (-:

Heh, I have a very different opinion on cvocals, it's not that I dislike female vocals, but that very often I just can;t shake the feeling that a bloke would have sounded better... Like female punk is almost universally painful to listen to for me - except one or two bands, like The Sahara Hotnights. In fact I seem to latch onto the few female vocalists I DO like quite strongly when I find them! Like the amount I like The Cardigans is almost certainly me just enjoying a female voice I enjoy doing a style of music I don't dislike/find boring... That said I don't have any albums!

@BorgClown: MMMmmm....the tone over there is silly. The political blogs are full of adults who behave like schoolyard children -- name-calling, gang-ups, bullying, etc. It's embarrassing to see and embarrassing to find yourself in the middle of it. Ick. Not my cup of tea. The entertainment and social threads are dominated by high-school age bloggers. I have NO IDEA what the heck they're talking about! :-)

@Thelevellers: I strongly dislike female singers who abuse their higher pitch, it feels like s drill. Men really, really dislike loud and girly screams. OTOH, I love the smooth voices a few female singers have, still higher pitched but kinda soothing to the ear. I'd mention a couple, but they're mostly Latin Spanish rock singers, pretty unknown outside Mexico.
