We still have private health insurance in the UK, we just don't need it. If you pay the government for your health insurance, there's no reason to think that you'd pay any more - you'd stop paying private health insurance and get the benefit of both regulation and centralisation of best practices and procedures.

Nothing, but there's always the possibility that government could get something right for once. It's a slim chance and unlikely, but I like to be a little optomistic... And they should get credit for trying at least in my view...
