Try harder they try, the more they fail.

They're failing to say "Fuck you, Republicans, we'll do it live!" Seriously, they have the majority right now. Obviously, people on the other side of the party line do NOT want to compromise, so why bother? Democrats are too NICE.

Its not Republicans that are giving them problems, it is moderate to conservative Democrats (blue dogs) that are causing them problems. Left alone, they will self-destruct.

@DigitalBoss: I don't understand why you would be conservative and a Democrat. Can you explain this? I'm not being sarcastic or anything; I'm genuinely confused.

Yeah, that is confusing to me. Many of them are elected in areas that are comprised of mostly moderate to conservative voters and have to watch their step when they start voting on bills. The Democrat party has been shifting further and further to the left. Some people say that the Republicans are now like what the Democrats used to be and the Republicans used to be much more conservative than they are now. It is my opinion that the Dems are more like Socialists/Communists, and the Republicans are like Democrats of old. There are no more real conservatives.

Conservatives used to be more like Constitutionalists. Did you know that the Constitution does not give our Congress the power to start a program like government healthcare? They do not have the power to do it, but they do it anyway because the people/voters let them get away with it. Congress is only given about 15 powers by the Constitution, Welfare, Unemployment, and Healthcare are not on the list.

@DigitalBoss: Really? Because I've heard completely the opposite, which is that the Democratic party has moved to the right and the Republicans have moved into insanity.

I've heard the same as Scarlet myself, and I think you can stop with the 'communist' BS already, take a look at this: http://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2008 Your democratic party is about as conservative as the UK Conservative party... I would mention 'labour' here. but since they became 'new labour' the are in effect conservatives mkII... :( I would vote Nader in the states myself, based on a quick look at the 'compass', I'm in almost the same place, a little more libertarian tho...
