It doesn't actually work either - not all browsers know how to render it. The chat system I wrote previously, which Discussionator was derived from (Dark), allowed you to press 'F' to flip the text... but as you say it's a stupid thing to be able to do.

Dark was a chat system, allowing you to pick a recipient and enter a message to send to them. Incoming messages were shown in a list below (in your browser). It works much the same as the comments system here, where there's a refresh button for getting new messages and an auto-refresh, so it wasn't instant messaging but close enough. I wrote it for use at work - it encrypted all its traffic, so snooping wouldn't see plain text messages. But being written in C it couldn't be used on the Internet, unless I leave my PC on all day.
