I am about to become homeless if I can't get into a Hud subsidized government housing.

Nah, my bills get paid with a little bit left to spare for savings and fun. My 401k has taken a hit but i'm young enough that the market will recover in time.

Someone I spoke to recently said his business is only getting perhaps 1/5th of the work it used to. Some areas are much harder hit than others. Although I lost access to a lot of my savings when a bank defaulted, the government has now refunded me and even paid the interest missing from the final balance.

One of my friends says his business is selling less than half of it used to. Now he has capital frozen as inventory. I've also seen a drop in consulting jobs, albeit it is expected at year's end. Let' see how the next year starts.

I got a job I very much like after almost one year of surviving on temporary ones. The recession did affect me, but now things much better.

I don't think that I have been affected. How am I supposed to tell? Can you honestly say that you have not been affected when you may have and you just don't know?

Oh wow, the article is unbelievable. Imagine how much does this fleet lose in maintenance alone.

We all have been affected, but I think Despicable wanted to know if you were significantly worse economically since the recession.

I have to say that now I have started work the effect is minimal to me - unless the reason my old letting agency is not re-paying my deposit is recession based... Doesn;t stop them being useless idiotic hateful people though! :P

Ah, bullies everywhere. My former company tried to scam me and two more people our last month of pay. They could try it because they were at advantage against us. As freelance workers, the law gives us almost no rights as employees. We managed to get paid in the end, I hope you too get your money back.

Oh I KNOW I'll get it back eventually, it's just that I have no (read negative) money until I get it! So getting it in three months time is ok, but I will have had three months regular pay by then and be ok! Bah, I'll survive, at least I have a useful housemate from last year who has taken over kicking them in the face now I'm at work all day... :)

In fact, this makes a cross over point with other topics - I know I'll get it back because there is a law in place, new in the last two years, that requires the agency to guarrantee return if tthe right conditions are met - so worst case scenario we drag through all the courts we can and maybe force them into shutting down! Woo for the government! :P

Nice. If you will get litigious, younger is better. As you gain some reputation among your peers and customers, it's easy to be labeled a litigious bastard and be ostracized. But being a cub, you have nothing to lose.

Happily my friend phoned me yesterday to say that she had received her check, so hopefully (the postal strikes aside) I'll have mine next week some time, and then get paid just after! Lol... Typical... While I dislike litigious bastards as much as the next guy/gal, I do also believe there is a case for jusitfiable litigicy! If they have broken a sensible law and aren't making amends off their own back, sue away, I say. However, if YOU have been an idiot, but can wangle some free money out of it, DON'T! :)
