And worldwide legalization of recreational drugs is a fantasy dream. What can be done in the real world<tt>TM?

It might be a crime itself, but if I grow and smoke my own weed for example, I'm not paying anybody for it. There would really be no way for it to help fund anything if there was no money involved at all.

if you drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes obviously you aren't funding criminals. also if you smoke weed that was grown locally. if you use drugs like cocaine or heroin then chances are you are funding organized crime.

also many psychedelics tend to be distributed via networks of hippies and such, rather than gun-toting gangsters.

You're right in that growing your own stuff strictly with your own resources or using only legal drugs does not finance crime. I was going to say illegal drugs, but Colombian coke, for example, is legal in some European countries. Even is a drug is legal in a country, the users are financing the crime cartels in the countries where t is illegal.

is any of it worse than the shit we fund when we pay taxes?

Is it right to ignore it because the government does worse things with your taxes?

no but we can blame the government for putting us in this awkward situation with prohibition.

All the governments? Even if USA legalized all recreational drugs, they'll remain illegal in many other countries, and thus supporting crime cartels.

I would say users of drugs such as cocaine, PCP or heroin are funding crime elsewhere, yes, but if you are growing your own weed for your own personal usage, that is not a crime-funding operation.

Even growing your own weed creates a market for seeds, lamps and ingredients for drying and preparing it, unless you can grow it outside and hang it to dry the old way. But I reckon this contributes much less money to crime groups.

hydroponic equipment funds crime, borg?

I don't know what more do you need apart from hydroponic equipment (lamps, fertilizer, filters, seeds, renewable stuff?), but if some way down the chain it's related to drug dealers, you would be supporting them. You're creating a market for this hydroponic gear. It doesn't happen now, but if enough people did it, the market would be big enough for drug dealers to get in and profit.

i don't get what you're saying, borg. hydroponic equipment is 100% legal and legit. these tools aren't exclusively used for growing pot, they can be used for growing anything.

I know it's legal, but hydroponic equipment for farms must be different than hydroponic equipment for your home. I suppose the consumables are different too, but as I said, I'm not familiar with it.
