Web siteI've always liked how insects look like armored machines on closeup http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2007/11/glamorous-insects.html

They're creepy, but damn, their exoskeletons are beautiful!

It's so cool. I want to develop machines based on bugs.

@Baslisks: Do you develop machines already?

@Baslisks: The first time I see insectoid machines conquering the World, I'll yell "<t>I am BorgClown!" so you spare my life.

@Baslisks: Do you do any of that awesome brain tissue+computer-> flight simulator stuff?

Why in hell did I use the non-existent <t> tag?

I am mech so I mess more with machines. Bugs are really efficient machines and do all these really cool things really simply. Theres a new paper out how flys avoid fly swatters. Brought my kill count up quite alot too.

I read an article not too long ago about a fungus that invaded an insects brain and made that insect climb upwards as far as possible, then it dies at a spot that gives the fungus a great chance of survival once it has eaten the insect from the inside.

There is also that insect that shanks its stinger into the brain of other insects and remote controls them back to its lair to be eaten.

@Korinthian: read all about those. Insect brains are just real complex reaction engines.

@Korinthian: I read that too. And it happens to ants also, who climb to the top of a grass leave, because the fungus thrives in cow dung.

@Florenz: We're humans and we are vain. We like to think we are creative. Though truthfully the idea of armored machines is ours and ours alone so....

@Bask: Where do you think people derive their ideas from? Thin air. You are a vain human.

@ Bask: Just really wanted to use a Bushism. Does it really matter in any meaningful way though? No.

@Florenz: I like to think it does. I don't believe it does. Just a nice thing.
